The Red Carpet Modern Man10:00:00 AM
Since red carpet season is in full swing, I thought I would introduce a little menswear to my blog. As a fashion blogger and stylist I love dressing men and the thought of dressing an A list actor like Jake Gyllenhaal for the red carpet has always been a dream of mine. He has great personal style that's simple and effortless not to mention he looks unbelievable in a tux. Now until I can dress him in real life I thought it would be fun to show you how I would dress Jake for a red carpet event like the Oscars.
First things first wether you are dressing men or women it all starts with a good base meaning undergarments. Having the right underwear and undershirts can keep an actor from having an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction like being caught on camera adjusting yourself, and no actor wants that. There are so many brands that sell men's undergarments but my favorite is Tommy John. They sell stay-tucked-in undershirts as well as no-adjustment-needed men's underwear which should be a staple in every guy's wardrobe.
So now that Jake is in his Tommy John undershirt and underwear it's time for the tux. I chose this navy Brunello Cucinelli tuxedo and to add a little personality and style to the tux I chose a denim Brunello Cucinelli tuxedo shirt. Now remember when you are dressing a man tailoring is everything, it will make or break an outfit and can either have him on the best dressed list or worst dressed list.
A lot of people think that menswear is boring especially when it comes to the red carpet, and it's true that they do not have as many options as us women do. But if you play with accessories, color and texture you can put together a stylish and visually appealing outfit for any man like I did above for Jake Gyllenhaal.
